2011 NFL Mock Draft - Week 8

Using the unofficial "if the draft was held today" order.

1. Buffalo Bills - QB Andrew Luck, Stanford. For years I have said if you end up with the first overall pick and you need a QB, then you take a QB. Ryan Fitzpatrick is putting up decent stats while trying to play catch up, but he is seriously limited. The Bills have to finally get something out of their high first round picks.

2. Dallas Cowboys - CB Patrick Peterson, LSU. The Cowboys have talent (there's that word again!) so they can just go best defensive player here. Terence Newman is entering his mid 30's. Peterson would be an instant upgrade for the secondary.

3. Carolina Panthers - DE Da'Quan Bowers, Clemson. Panthers can go any direction here. They have holes all over the place. Bowers is a physical freak who has put it all together this year, leading the nation in sacks and tackles for loss. He's a Carolina guy and might give the fans a little reason for optimism.

4. San Francisco 49ers - CB Prince Amukamara, Nebraska. Way too early to take a quarterback. However, if Ryan Mallett continues to improve he could be an option here. Amukamara is the latest defensive beast to come out of Nebraska, and would fill a need. Yeah, he doesn't have an interception this year, but teams aren't even pretending to consider throwing his direction.

5. Denver Broncos - DE Marcell Dareus, Alabama. The Broncos are one of many teams who have switched to a 3-4 defense but lack the proper parts to make the engine run smoothly. Eventually they have to get some guys in who fit the personell, or teams will continue to march all over them.

6. Minnesota Vikings - WR AJ Green, Georgia. I really doubt the Vikings will end up picking 6th overall. They could go with Quinn replace free agent to be Ray Edwards, but with the freakishly athletic AJ Green falling, they could opt to go with him. Of course, this won't matter, they won't be picking 6th.

7. Detroit Lions - DE Robert Quinn, North Carolina. The Lions would absolutely love to pair probable defensive rookie of the year Suh with his old Nebraska teammate, but he's gone in this mock. The Lions further beef up the defensive line with a pass rusher.

8. Cincinnati Bengals - DT Nick Fairley, Auburn. The Bengals are a mess and look like they could clean house. They need to finally bring in some guys with a motor. Anyone who has paid attention to SEC football know Fairley has just that.

9. Cleveland Browns - WR Julio Jones, Alabama. Jones has had issues with drops but I think he's just too talented to fall out of the top 10. He's another Brandon Marshall. The Browns need to get Colt McCoy a real target to throw to.

10. San Diego Chargers - DE Allen Bailey, Miami. The Chargers have struggled to replace Igor Olshansky, and they are at their best with pillars at defensive end in their 3-4 defense.

11. Arizona Cardinals - CB Brandon Harris, Miami
12. St. Louis Rams - WR Jonathan Baldwin, Pittsburgh
13. New England Patriots (from Oakland Raiders) - RB Mark Ingram, Alabama
14. Washington Redskins - DE/OLB Ryan Kerrigan, Purdue
15. Jacksonville Jaguars - QB Ryan Mallett, Arkansas
16. Chicago Bears - OT Derek Sherrod, Mississippi St.
17. Philadelphia Eagles - CB Ras-I Dowling, Virginia
18. Miami Dolphins - CB Aaron Williams, Texas
19. Houston Texans - OLB Bruce Carter, North Carolina
20. Tennessee Titans - OLB Travis Lewis, Oklahoma
21. Seattle Seahawks - QB Jake Locker, Washington
22. Green Bay Packers - OLB Justin Houston, Georgia
23. New Orleans Saints - DE Adrian Clayborn, Iowa
24. Kansas City Chiefs - DE/OLB Akeem Ayers, UCLA
25. Pittsburgh Steelers - OT Nate Solder, Colorado
26. New York Jets - DE Cameron Heyward, Ohio St.
27. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - CB Janoris Jenkins, Florida
28. Baltimore Ravens - OLB Von Miller, Texas A&M
29. Atlanta Falcons - CB Brandon Burton, Utah
30. Indianapolis Colts - OT Anthony Castonzo, Boston College
31. New York Giants - MLB Greg Jones, Michigan St.
32. New England Patriots - DE Cameron Jordan, California
